Corporate Action Manager

Redesign of a legacy corporate actions trading tool, achieving a 40% improvement in task completion speed for operations and trading teams.

about.

Project Summary

The existing corporate actions platform was a 15-year-old legacy system with no coherent visual language. Operations staff were processing hundreds of time-sensitive corporate events daily, yet the tool required multiple clicks, scrolls and manual data cross-checks for every action.

Errors were costly. Missed or misprocessed corporate actions could result in direct financial penalties.

My Role

As UI Designer and UI Lead, I redesigned the visual language and interaction model for a high-throughput operations tool. I partnered with product and engineering from discovery through release, delivering detailed Figma specifications, keyboard-first navigation patterns, and a WCAG-compliant interface that cut cognitive load across every workflow.

Design Process

I shadowed operations staff for a full week to understand their real workflows, not the documented ones. This revealed that 60% of the time was spent on status checking and data reconciliation, not actual processing.

The redesign introduced a priority queue view at the top level, with contextual actions surfaced inline. A colour-coded urgency system and keyboard-first navigation reduced cognitive load significantly.
